Spiced Apple Cider Donuts

More Donut Recipes

I am bringing you all the cozy and warm feels today with these freshly baked spiced apple cider donuts that I am currently enjoying with a cup of tea. I always enjoy apple cider vinegar in my morning elixir. These flavours really transported once they were baked into these donuts. I think for many it may seem like they will have a sour taste to them, similar to vinegar. However, they provide a warm and comforting taste as well as gorgeous hints of spices. I hope you enjoy this recipe, it really is such a great base recipe to use when baking donuts and one that I will be using more often.

How to store your spiced apple cider donuts:

Remove your donuts from the oven and allow them to cool down completely. If you do not wish to have them all right away you can leave them as is ( no sugar coating) and place them in a Ziploc/freezer bag and pop them into the freezer until you wish to have them. After they have been frozen, allow them to defrost at room temp and then pop them into the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees C.

Bon appetit,

Zorah

Ingredients for these baked apple cider donuts

  1. Apple Cider is definitely the key ingredient for this recipe. It really bring out the flavour of the donut and does not have a sour after taste at all. The Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar is a very popular one, but you can choose any kind you like.
  2. Do not skip the spices, these spices really bring out the aromatics of the donut. I used a few standard spices for this recipe, but you can add more if you want to, like All Spice.
  3. Make sure your melted butter has cooled for 2-3 minutes before adding it to the wet ingredients. If you add it while it’s still bubbling, you may end up cooking the egg.
  4. I coated my donuts using coconut oil, I find it has a nice, liquid consistency. But it also doesn’t leave too much of a coconut taste behind.
