Let’s talk all things business!
This food blog is dedicated to creating recipes and assisting you where I can. One thing I am also passionate about it, is teaching and helping you to create your own business. This may be for a fashion blog or food, it doesn’t really matter. What matter’s most is that you have the basics down to a “T”! It’s definitely not easy and it does take a lot of work. I create a downloadable FREE guide- Starting Your Start Up, that offers a few pointers about how to start being business savvy.
What’s in the guide- Starting Your Start Up?
I wanted to make this guide simple and easy to understand. The basics and fundamentals that I wish I knew can all be found inside. Here are a few things that I talk about in the guide:
Know your worth- Starting your start up
This is all about knowing how to charge brands and how to negotiate with them. I used to think that a standard rate card was fine to send to everyone. But on the contrary, it varies from client to client. Not to say that you charge a whole lot more for a bigger company. But understanding the budget and where the company is in terms of just starting out, is very important. I custom make all my rate cards and I like to ask the client/liaison what their budget is (if they have one) at the beginning so I can decide if it’s worth my time etc.
Charging Correctly
A rate card is your way of telling brands what you charge for deliverables. I like to put everything in my rate card and leave nothing out. Even if the brand isn’t asking for something specific, it’s great for them to see what you offer and perhaps they may wan to add that in as well.
